Lillie S. Walker was born April 3, 1927 in Millen, Georgia. She graduated in 1948 from South Carolina State College with an A.B. in Library Science. She received her MSLS from NC Central in 1955. She was a school librarian in Lancaster, SC from 1948-1951, and in Columbia, SC from 1951-1956. She continued her career at SC State College by becoming periodicals librarian, assistant professor in the library science school, assistant librarian of circulation, head of readers services and cataloger, and coordinator of collection organization. She also later became acting head librarian. She was involved with severval organizations including ALA, SELA, SCLA, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Past President of the Orangeburg Chapter of SCSU Alumni Association. She is an Elder at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Orangeburg. She resides in Orangeburg, SC.
