The South Carolina Library
History Project is an ongoing, collaborative effort of the
School of Library and Information Science faculty, its
students, and South Carolina librarians to compile and make
available the history of every library in the state.
The Diversity Leadership Group is
a volunteer group composed of practicing library professionals
and students at the School of Library and Information
Science. Activities of the group include: sponsoring a
program on recruitment, retention, and advancement of
underrepresented populations in libraries for a conference of
the South Carolina Library Association, and writing and presenting
faculty/staff and student diversity plans for the school which
were adopted by the faculty and posted to the school’s web
site.
The purpose of this site is to
provide information about all aspects of storytelling: its
history, resources, techniques, organizations, festivals and
many of the stories themselves, both old and new. Many
examples of stories are available here performed by the
students, alumni and faculty at SLIS.
The digital version of the
printed SC Literary Map is sponsored by the South Carolina
Center for the Book which is co-sponsored by the South
Carolina State Library and the USC School of Library and
Information Science. The Palmetto Book Alliance is South
Carolina's affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the
Book.
