| ORGANIZATIONS
The students of the School have established a student organization to plan special events and programs that are of interest to future information professionals. The Library and Information Science Student Association (LISSA) provides social and service opportunities to students interested in all types of library work. LISSA is an official student chapter of the American Library Association (ALA), the Special Libraries Association (SLA), and the American Society for Information Science and Technology(ASIS&T). LISSA sponsors welcoming luncheons for new students each semester and hosts frequent informal gatherings at local restaurants. Its members are frequently involved as volunteers with special events sponsored by the School and community projects. All students are strongly encouraged to become involved in the
activities of LISSA.
STUDENTS ON SCHOOL COMMITTEES
Students are invited to participate in the activities of pertinent SLIS standing committees. Student who wish to participate will be notified of meeting dates by the chair of each committee.
