Career Services

Students are urged to begin the job search process several months before anticipated graduation. To assist our students the following resources are available:

The School receives position announcements from around the state, nation and world daily. These announcements are made available to students on the SLIS jobs listserv.
To subscribe to the SLIS jobs listserv:
Send an e-mail message to listserv@listserv.sc.edu
In the body of the message type: Subscribe slisjobs firstname lastname

The SLIS website contains useful links to other job-related sites on the Career Opportunities page.

SLIS faculty members are often willing to review resumes as are many practitioners. Asking several people to assist you in evaluating your resume is recommended, as people bring different perspectives.

The USC Career Center, located in the Moore School of Business, also offers valuable services to enhance the career development of currently enrolled students. The Center’s address is www.sc.edu/career/.

Resume preparation tips may be found at www.sc.edu/career/tipsheets.html.

The Career Center will critique resumes sent by e-mail to career@sc.edu.
