Liz Hartnett joined the doctoral
program at SLIS in August 2013, and works as a research assistant
for Dr. Donna Shannon. Liz is from Augusta, Ga., where she has
worked in school libraries, at both the K-12 and college level.
Liz earned her
MLIS from USC in 2004. Her bachelor’s
degree is in education, from the University of Missouri.
Seeing first-hand how transformative
free access to information can be in people’s lives has led to Liz’s interest
in the ways that libraries can contribute to education through
organizing and presenting materials and information in useful,
engaging, and effective formats. She wants to know more about
the role of libraries in distance education and course design,
and has a special fondness for maps, info graphics, and other
creative ways to present statistics and data.
