1814 Coronaca Library Society (Abbeville County)
1816 Cambridge Library Society (Greenwood County)
1847 Greenwood Library of nine hundred volumes mentioned in Manual of Public Libraries
1901 Library association organized by Miss Mary McGee to establish Public Library (Greenwood County)
1905 Association elected an advisory board of men for library program (Greenwood County)
1916 Carnegie Foundation provided grant to build a Public Library building, librarian began rare book collection, town agreed to provide funds to maintain library (Greenwood County)
1928 Children's Room opened, supported by Kiwanis Club (Greenwood County)
1936 WPA established Abbeville County Library
1937 Greenwood City and County Library, County Council of Farm Women gained one-half mill tax support for rural library service provided by department of Greenwood City Public Library
1940 Negro branch opened (Greenwood County)
1942 Abbeville County Library became a community project sponsored by the Donalds Grange and moved to Grange Hall in Donalds, SC
1948 Abbeville (town) Public Library established with room and stipend from town, later (1964) moved to an old house on the town square
1956 Greenwood County Library moved into new quarters
1958 Concrete block building constructed in Donalds for Abbeville County Library, serves as the branch library for county in Donalds today
1960-1970 Greenwood provided, by contract, bookmobile service to McCormick County
1962 Tax support increased to two mills (Greenwood County)
1965 SC Acts No. 173 created Abbeville County Library
1966 Abbeville County Library incorporated rural bookmobile and town library, Abbeville-Greenwood Regional Library formed
1969 Moved into the renovated Post Office on Main Street in Abbeville
1979 Tax support increased to three mills (Greenwood County)
