Catherine Heniford Lewis

Catherine Heniford Lewis was born February 29, 1924, in Richmond, Virginia. She received her M.A. in English and Latin from Coker College in 1943 and her M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina in 1945. She received a B.S. in Library Science from the University of North Carolina in 1948.

Ms. Lewis began her career as a reference librarian at the University of North Carolina, and went to North Western State College in Louisiana in 1948. In 1949, she began working as a bibliographer for the Copyright Office in Washington D.C. She moved to Johns Hopkins University Library in 1950 and in 1958, she began work for Coastal Carolina College. She became head librarian for the Horry County Public Library in 1960. Ms. Lewis died in 1998.
