The Civil Rights Era
The Civil Rights era has had a profound and lasting effect on South Carolina society. It has also produced significant positive effects on library services to Blacks in the state. These changes were won as a result of the fearsome determination of Black citizens, such as these peaceful protesters shown arrested after an attempt to obtain services at the Greenville County Library main branch in 1960 led to their arrest. peaceful protest
