Helen Fellers received her undergraduate degree from Columbia College in Library Science. She earned her masters degree in Library Science from the University of South Carolina.
She was a branch librarian with the Richland County Public Library System —serving as branch librarian of the John Hughes Cooper Branch. She also served as Director of Learning Resource Centers at two Technical Education Colleges.
Helen has been a presenter at South Carolina Association of School Librarians and other conferences. Active in several library and cultural organizations, she was awarded a certificate of appreciation and an honorary Life Membership in the South Carolina Library Association. Recently invited to serve on the board of the South Carolina Humanities, Helen also serves on the executive board of the English Speaking Union and S.C. Book Festival.
Long known as the “Story Lady,” Helen also is the Reading Rooster™ a trademarked book presentation seen bi-monthly on YouTube and TeacherTube.
Helen enjoys speaking to Early Childhood staff, instructors and parents on the “ABCs of Raising a Reader: Planting the Seeds for a Life Long Love of Literacy.”
