Dr. Barron is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has a masters, advanced masters, and Ph.D. from Florida State University.

Dr. Barron retired in July, 2006 to the North Carolina Mountains but
is now the director of the Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Regional Library.
