After obtaining my undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Commerce), I worked in South Africa. I was then transferred to Europe to manage a global information technology project. The scope of the project required the standardization of operational and financial reporting across BHP's (world's largest mining company) global entities which spanned five continents. The elements of the project included the conversion of operational and financial data received in multiple formats into a unified, consistent digital format and reporting this data as information for retrieval by company executives, stakeholders and investors.
While working in Europe, I was recruited by Ernst and Young LLP in North America. Working as a management consultant at E&Y provided me with the opportunity to hone my information technology, project management and business re-engineering skills across multiple industry sectors in the United States and Canada. My tasks included designing, prototyping, configuring and implementing technology-based solutions to address a corporation's business challenges, enhance productivity and create sustained competitive advantage. During my tenure there, I completed my MBA.
My academic undertakings and international corporate experiences have collectively given me comprehensive theoretical and practical exposure to the core areas of information technology and international business.
