Elizabeth Miller is a graduate of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia, now the University of Mary Washington located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She received both her MLIS and Specialist of Library and Information Science degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
Elizabeth is the author of eight books. The Internet Resource
Directory for K-12 Teachers and Librarians (Libraries Unlimited)
was an annual publication from 1994-2002.
Elizabeth is also the author of WebMARC , a MARC record database of quality educational Web resources published by Winnebago, Sagebrush Corporation and Follett for windows based automation systems connected to the Internet.
Elizabeth has served on several committees of the American Library Association : as the past Chair of the Distinguished Administrator of the Year Award Committee, past Chair of the IConnect ICPrize Committee , a member of the ICONnect Team and Executive Board , and the ICONnect Task Force of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) . Elizabeth served on the Notable Film and Video Evaluation Committee of the Associaton for Library Service to Children from 1995-2003. She was the Chair of the Committee from 2000-2002 She served on the Carnegie Medal Committee in 2003 and is currently serving on the Great Web Sites for Kids Committee. She also served for three years (1996-1999) on the South Carolina Children's Book Award Committee of the South Carolina Association of School Librarians as well as the Chair of the Professional Awards and Recognition Committee.
She has taught classes in children's materials, educational technologies, and online resources. Currently she supervises school library media interns in their field experiences. Her research involves access and retrieval of information resources on the Internet.
