Description ...
Distributed learning is an instructional model that involves
various information technologies to help students learn.
Over the past thirty years SLIS has offered high-quality
instruction for distance and campus-based learners. Our ALA-accredited
program, directed by our award-winning faculty and staff,
has sent many successful librarians into information agencies
and cultural institutions (e.g., museums, archives, and historical
societies).
Distributed learning supports the following
degree programs:
• Master
of Library and Information Science (MLIS)
• Specialist
in Library and Information Science
• Certificate
of Graduate Study in Library and Information Science
Whether you choose to join us in Columbia
or stay in your community, distributed learning provides
access to our excellent school.

Delivery ...
Blended Campus – Campus-based
learners can anticipate several potential methods of instruction.
Blended campus can mean live lectures, taped lectures,
and self-directed coursework online. It can also include
Saturday onsite sessions, and possibly face-to-face courses
on campus.
Blended Online – Distance-based learners can anticipate
the following methods of instruction: live lectures, taped
lectures, and self-directed coursework online.
Most courses are online, and our faculty
members employ a variety of technologies that allow our students
to interact, access resources, listen to lectures and complete
assignments. Through
these delivery methods our distributed learning courses feature
opportunities to engage with classmates, instructors and
the professional community.

by SLIS:
Our experience with campus-based delivery, technology and
distributed learning techniques allows us to continue to
offer a quality education wherever students are, wherever
students learn. |
