SLIS Mailing lists (Listservs)

SLIS uses the university listserv software to run its mailing lists. 

Everyone must subscribe to slisinfo@listserv.sc.edu OR usc-slis@listserv.sc.edu.
Slisinfo is the college list that has need to know administraive information from SLIS student services and important announcements.  Usc-slis has all the need to know information and miscellaneous information including discussions of issues related to the profession, ads for various things including books and anything else of possible interest to SLIS students.

Another important list is the slisjobs@listserv.sc.edu list. All job announcements sent to the SLIS are posted here.

Each class will probably have its own list. Instructions will be given by the instructor.
Most class lists follow the naming convention of slis###L, for example, slis701L, slis734L.

To subscribe to a list:
    send a mail message to listserv@listserv.sc.edu
    in the body of the message type:
   subscribe listname yourfirstname yourlastname
    for example:  subscribe slisinfo Elvis Presley

The listserv software will send you 2 messages confirming your subscription.

To unsubscribe from a list:
send a mail message to listserv@listserv.sc.edu
    in the body of the message type:
signoff listname or
unsubscribe listname
for example:  unsubscribe usc-slis

To post to a list:
send the mail message to listname@listserv.sc.edu
   
for example:  usc-clis@listserv.sc.edu
