- Purpose of the lab: Academic work by the SLIS students takes precedence over all other uses of the lab, including but not limited to non-academic games, chatting, email, or web surfing. A non-academic user may be asked to give up his/her computer to allow another user to carry out legitimate academic work.

- Copyrights: The college policy on software copyrights prohibits illegal copying of software from the lab’s computer equipment. Anyone caught making illegal copies of software will be detained and/or reported to the campus police.

- Software: Do
not install or download any software to the hard drive.
Software may be installed on the computers by SLIS Computer
Services staff only.
Do not run any programs from CD’s,
jump/flash drives, or any other storage medium.

- Saving Files: Do not save your personal files on lab computers. Save only to your own storage media. Any files saved on the lab computers are not secure.

- Other Computer Hardware: Do not plug digital cameras, or any other peripherals into the lab computers without permission.

- Modification of computer system or files: Modification of any of the installed programs or system files is not allowed.

- Problems and Care of Equipment: Operate the equipment with respect and care. Please inform the Computer lab personnel of any problems with the hardware or software. Anyone caught damaging USC computer property will be detained and/or reported to the campus police.

- Printing: Print only materials for immediate class use. Please keep printing to a minimum. Avoid printing documents of more than 25 pages. No printing of e-books, online courses, etc.

- Food and Drink: Food and drink are not allowed inside the lab.

- Courtesy to others: You must be courteous of others in the lab. Please keep discussions at a low volume. Avoid offensive language. Do not view pornographic or otherwise offensive content.

- Cell Phones: Cell phone usage is not allowed in the computer lab. Please turn off your cell one or set it on silent alert.

- Children: Children are not allowed in the computer lab.

- Animals: No animals except service animals will be allowed in the lab.

- Personal Belongings: Please do not leave your personal belongs unattended. SLIS staff is not responsible for lost, stolen, or moved items.

- Cleaning Up: Keep our computer lab clean! Please dispose of your own trash, and pack out any items that you brought in.

- Consequences: Violating
lab rules will result in the suspension or loss of your
lab privileges.
