ADVISOR If you don't know who your advisor is, check with the Student Services Office at the School and they can tell you.

YES - You will need to contact your advisor in your first semester to set up your Program of Study (part of SLIS701). Also, your SLIS life will be made much easier with the help and guidance of your advisor.  They can help you make important decisions about  what classses you need to take and when, what forms you need to fill out and when, and career path decisions.

A JCOURSE is a course that is televised or on the web.  Columbia and students in other geographic locations take these courses at the same time. If you are in Columbia, you may view in a studio classroom or in an overflow room. You need to follow the specific guidelines for registration, obtaining materials and submitting assignments.

The best way to ask questions and get answers from SLIS faculty, staff and students and to keep up with what is going on at the college is to sign up for the SLIS electronic mailing list (listserv). This is a real MUST.

For information on how to sign up for the various SLIS lists go to http://www.libsci.sc.edu/cstudents/mailinglists.htm

JOBS ANYONE??
There is a mailing list run by SLIS that has job postings - SLISjobs@listserv.sc.edu.  You can subscribe to this list by using the directions at http://www.libsci.sc.edu/cstudents/mailinglists.htm
