Non-traditional Jobs and Your Career
Jack Bryan, Retired, Director of Administration, SC Attorney General's Office

A scarcity of jobs, some blogs full of comments about poor job satisfaction, and here you are with a graduate degree in a stagnant economy.  Hear from a Davis grad who retired from a challenging and satisfying 31 year career that included less than 12 months of formal library employment and the hiring of four other MLS students or grads.  Be introspective about your education, experience and motivation to see potential jobs and make yourself the outstanding applicant.  This isn't a typical library school and your job search need not be limited to the typical library jobs.
Registration Fee:  $50.00
Location:  Davis College, USC, Columbia Campus

Great Library Exhibits on a Budget, I:  the Basics

Registration Fee:  $50.00 for morning session only; $75.00 if attending both morning and afternoon sessions
Location:  McKissick Museum, USC, Columbia Campus

Writing Procedures and Training Manuals for Libraries

Heidi Hoerman, School of Library and Information Science, USC

Oftentimes a library discovers it doesn't have a record of why or how it does something until someone retires.  Confusion results when there is a difference between what a supervisor told someone to do and what they heard.  This workshop will introduce skills and tricks for writing good manuals when time is short.
Registration Fee:  $50.00
Location:  Davis College, USC, Columbia Campus
