You will create an avatar and learn basic techniques such as flying,
chatting and interacting with other avatars. The workshop will

Practical Aspects of Gift Processing

A practical workshop on the issues in
assessing, selecting, and handling gifts and gift
collections. Issues discussed will include aims and
expected outcomes for gift programs, initial gift assessment, common
donor questions and expectations, acknowledgement procedures,
post-donation gift processing, researching gifts and handling gift
appraisal (including IRS gift-in-kind tax requirements as they affect
libraries), special issues in book resale gift programs, and related
library program and development opportunities. You will get the
opportunity for hands-on review of “typical” donated materials, and you
will receive hand-outs on helpful resources and guidelines.

Marketing Strategies for Libraries

This session will look at how to
successfully use Flickr, YouTube, and other Web 2.0 tools to promote
your library services and programs. Attendees will be provided
with useful tips and techniques for uploading photos and videos as well
as finding out the best blogs to help you keep up with trends and other
library related marketing and promotion. We will also take a look
at TeacherTube, which provides an online community for sharing
instructional videos aimed at teachers. Attendees are encouraged
to bring digital cameras to this session and examples of promotional
brochures/handouts to be shared and discussed.
