The South Carolina Center for Children's Books
and Literacy is a collaboration between the University
Of South Carolina School Of Library and Information Science and
the South Carolina State Library.
Designated by the Library of
Congress Center for the Book as the official book examination and
preview center for the state, the Center supports teaching, learning
and research related to children's and young-adult literature and
materials.
The Center provides information, education, and
support services. Our collection is current. Books are kept for
two years and then added to the research collection at USC's Thomas
Cooper Library.
The Center maintains a small retrospective collection
of award-winning books. The Center cooperates with the South Carolina
State Library, the South Carolina Department of Education, the
South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, state reading initiatives,
and many professional organizations.
