National Center for Family Literacy
The National Center for Family Literacy creates educational and economic opportunity for the most at-risk children and parents. NCFL's services include professional development for practitioners who work in children's education, English as a Second Language,
and related literacy fields; model program development, policy and advocacy support, and the Family Literacy Alliance, a membership program.
Children's Literacy Initiative
Childrens Literacy Initiative works to increase children's literacy skills and grow a love of reading through providing professional development for teachers of pre-kindergarten through the third grade. CLI uses a hands on and practical approach with
teachers that combines a three day institute with an onsite and individual coaching.
National Children's Literacy Website
The NCLI Project is part of the SOHO center, a group that has had children's literacy initiatives as an important part of its activities for 32 years. They are committed to promoting children's literacy in child care and home settings.
First Book
First Book is a national nonprofit organization with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. They provide an ongoing supply of new books to children participating in community-based
mentoring, tutoring, and family literacy programs.
Early Literacy

Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read (ROR) promotes early literacy by bringing new books and advice about the importance of reading aloud into the pediatric exam room. Since 1989, ROR pediatricians have been prescribing books and reading aloud for their young patients, with a special focus on children growing up in poverty. Reading is Fundamental
RIF is most well known for its flagship program, the National Book Program. Under this program, children choose and keep several free paperback books each year. In addition to the National Book Program, RIF also offers several special literacy programs. Each of
these programs shares all of the features of RIF's National Book Program, and offers additional services targeted to specific age groups or populations.
Rolling Readers
A Columbia based organization whose mission is to " develop successful, lifelong readers by encouraging children's love of reading and learning. "
