Division for Environment Management and Economic and Social Development, Department for Development Support and Management Services: The DDSMS was established to provide support to developing countries, both economically and socially. This Department offers technical services in Public Administration and Finance, Economic and Social Development, Natural Resources, and Environment and Energy.

Division for Sustainable Development, Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development: This site deals with Committee and Meeting events associated with such Environmental issues like: the World's Freshwater Resources, Global Change, Natural Resources, Renewable Sources of Energy, Forests and much more. This is also the site of Committee on Natural Resources, and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED),which focuses on environmental issues.

Two of its most interesting sites: United Nations Conference on Environment and Development and the Global Conference on Small Island Developing States.

Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea: This site offers information on Conventions, Conferences, Meetings, Education, Training and Recent News happenings. The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea gives the regime of law and order in the world's seas and oceans. This convention is used to establish rules for governing all uses of the oceans and any of its resources. It covers issues such as: legal concepts and looks into new concerns.


EARTHWATCH: This site contains information about emerging Environmental Problems facing our world today. Legislative Mandates, UN system-wide contributions to Earthwatch and Documents on Earthwatch are just some of the topics this site obtains. It also offers links to other web sites of interest like: the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Home Page and the Official UN Web Site Locator.

Economic Commission for Europe, Agricultural Standards: The ECE is a Commission made up of experts from all over Europe who have all come together to aid in improving the European environment. Some of those issues focused on are: air pollution, industrial accidents and their impact and the protection of international lakes and transboundary watercourses.

Water Resources: This site has links to other Programmes and Agencies dealing with water resource issues. Some of these sites include: FAO, UNEP, Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development, World Water Council and the World Meterological Organization, Hydrology and Water Resources Programme.


United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP): This Programme was formed to provide leadership and to encourage a partnership among all nations in caring for their environment. UNEP hopes to acheive this and to also improve the quality of life without putting future generations at risk. This site covers Events, Conventions and Environmental Issues.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO): This site defines the FAO and also offers infomation on special conferences associated with agricultural issues, such as the effects of El Nino on crop production. It also looks at food production throughout the world. And also offers information on how to deal with disaster. Some of its environmental sites are those associated with Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Those groups dealing with Agricultural issues include: the AGS: Agricultural Support System, AGA: Animal Production and Health, AGP: Plant Production and Protection and AGL: Land and Water Development Devision. Those groups dealing with Fisheries include: ITAFISH, ASFA, GLOBEFISH, and BOBP.

International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD): This site offers information on the agency itself as well as information on Conferences concerning Hunger and Poverty, like the one held in Brussesls on November 20-21 in 1995. Up-to-Date press relseases and other related Web links are also available at this site.
