A drop-down box combined with a search engine leads to even more links of suppliers, books, jobs, and hotel directory. A very good resource to find out what's happening in the world of hospitality.

The leading webzine for hotel marketers, this site not only provides hospitality industry news, but also how-to articles on marketing your hotel on the Internet. Its online travel directory links to hotel, airline and travel web sites, publications, and associations, as well as vendors and suppliers. Offers a free weekly e-mail newsletter.

Hotelonline
The online gathering place for hotel professionals. Read the latest industry news from around the world. This site provides many articles with information on trends and events, and issues that affect the hotel industry. It also offers a discussion board, job listings and a free email newsletter. One page contains a rather extensive list of links to hotel industry consultants, while another labeled "catalog" contains a link to only one supplier. Overall, a good place to start to familiarize oneself with the global hospitality community, with a not overwhelming amount of information.

This site is targeted toward owners, managers and financial executives to provide the quality information they need to make sound business decisions. Also find latest in hotel industry research, published in their annual Greenbook.

By far the most comprehensive site for hospitality information. It's all here : links to hotels, suppliers, associations, jobs, publications, and much, much more. Any and, it seems, all topics pertaining to the hotel industry, from around the globe are contained in this site. It lives up to its motto "the one stop web site for hoteliers."

HospitalityNet
Online trade publication for the global hospitality industry. Offers interactive services , industry news, discussion groups, recruitment services, as well as suppliers, and other industry links. A unique feature is it's interviews with top hotel industry professionals in multimedia format. The web site also offers information about recent technological advances in the hospitality arena and a good selection of sales and marketing links.


Technology

Hospitality Upgrade
Playful site that focuses mainly on the technological aspects of the hotel industry. Published by Siegel Communications, Inc., this site is presided over by Rich Siegel, SCI's owner, who offers news and his views about trends and new ideas in the hotel industry. The site features a bi-monthly editorial by Seigel, as well as latest news, upcoming events, discussion forums and vendor links. New and different is a humor page that I found quite entertaining as I typed this assignment into the wee hours of the morning.

Hospitality Industry Integration Standards
Sponsored by the American Hotel and Motel Association, this site outlines the program for developing technology standards within the hotel and travel industries. Proposals for standards, testing, and press releases are included. Interesting site to see how the industry plans to make the process of reservations more easier and more efficient.

Browse job listings by position, company or location for management as well as hourly jobs that are available worldwide. This site provides a global directory of hotels and restaurants, giving brief profiles of each establishment along with current job openings. Features include links to the more lucrative openings and a link to the "premier employer", a regular feature that gives current openings in the companies that are most coveted by job seekers.

This site is for those seeking employment in the "cool" places to work, namely at hotels and restaurants in and around state and national parks, ranches, ski resorts and other establishments that cater to outdoor enthusiasts. Employer profiles are provided for hotels, restaurants, resorts, casinos, cruise ships, and others. A nice feature for registered users is the "job detective" which will match new postings to the job seeker's resume and email it as the new positions are posted. Also provides links to jobs in Canada, UK, and Ireland.

American Hotel and Motel Association
This 92 year old federation of state lodging associations provides assistance in operations, education, communications, and lobbies on capital hill for legislation that will benefit the hospitality industry. Membership provides discounts on insurance, education materials, and industry publications.
 

Hospitality Sales and Marketing International
This site is for sales and marketing professionals who work in the hospitality, travel and tourism fields. The main focus of this organization is on the latest news and trends and the dissemination of information through educational programs. The association produces the leading industry trade shows, and educational events for meeting planners. Also offers a free bi-monthly newsletter.

Hospitality Association of South Carolina
State trade association for restaurants, nightclubs, bars, taverns, caterers, hotels, motels, inns, and resorts. The association works closely with related tourism organizations to encourage the continued growth and success of the hospitality and tourism industry.

American Resort Development Association
This Washington DC based trade association represents the vacation ownership and resort development industries. Its mission is to promote the growth of the industry and serve its members through education, public relations, legislative advocacy, and ethics enforcement.
