A searchable database of charities and nonprofits that channels 100 percent of online donations to recipient organizations. The site also sells Web-based services to nonprofits and provides a mechanism for organizations to securely receive donations.
American Association of Fund-Raising Council (AAFRC)
The Web site of the AAFRC, whose membership is composed of consulting firms that advise nonprofits on fundraising matters, leads visitors to useful data regarding trends in philanthropy and the distribution of the types of sources and recipients of giving. A particularly helpful feature on the site is its "8 Steps to Choosing Fund-Raising Counsel" area, which elucidates various factors to consider in selecting the right firm.
Council on Foundations
The Council is a membership organization for grantmakers. Its web site offers visitors a wealth of information for and about foundations: "Legal Counsel ...From the Council," which gives answers to legal FAQs; news of upcoming conferences and workshops; and articles from recent issues of Foundation News & Commentary. "Foundation Basics" includes a brief history of foundations, a discussion of foundations' relationship to government, and examples of grants that have affected the lives of ordinary Americans. "Options for donors" explores questions about giving through private foundations vs. community foundations, and it provides a listing of community foundations not only in 50 states, but also in Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, England, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

The site also provides online resources and tools to help nonprofits utilize the Internet in their strategic planning, recruiting, and fundraising.

The National Charities Information Bureau's mission is to promote informed giving and to enable more contributors to make sound financial giving decisions.
National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy

Philanthropic Advisory Service
The Council of the Better Business Bureau web site provides instant access to business and consumer alerts, charity reports and standards (through its Philanthropic Advisory Service), and other helpful resources. It also has begun to accept consumer complaints, which it forwards to the appropriate local BBB.
