- Edgar
Online- This database allows searching EDGAR documents
by company name, ticker symbol, full text or the entier document,
by date, SIC code, by type of filing, by sector, and by location (all
of these indexs can be searched simultaneously). One feature about
this database that I find interesting is that although it is a fee-based
service, it is possible to do a search, and get the results. It does
not ask for user-name and password until the user actually tries to
view the document retrieved from the search. The search results give
you enough information to track the filings down using another (free)
database. Edgar Online charges a quarterly fee, and allows users to
only download a certain number of filings without additonal charges.
- LiveEdgar-
LiveEdgar is the EDGAR database that I learned to search for EDGAR
filings. The amount of value added content in LiveEdgar is unsurpassed.
LiveEdgar is searchable by the same indexes (including full text)
as Edgar Online. In addition LiveEdgar has a canned (built in) searchs
for particular, often necesssary types of filings (such as poison
pills, shareholders agreements, ect...) LiveEdgar also has support
staff who are available should users have trouble searching for particular
filings. LiveEdgar charges users by the amount of time that they spend
online searching for filings, which may be beneficial depending on
the user's experience and/or the complexity of the search. LiveEdgar
is a product of Global Securities Incorporated.
- Disclosure
Global Access- Disclosure Global Access is the fee based EDGAR
(and 11 other databases) search interface operated by Thomson Financial
which is owned by Primark. Global Access offers full text keyword
searching, and allows searchers to view keywords in context to determine
if the filings that are returned are useful. Global Access also provided
access to corporate financial information, downloadable directly in
to other management and/or spreadsheet applications. It is also possible
to order Non EDGAR SEC filings through the Global Access interface.
