This site provides useful information to travelers, including links to road closure notices and weather conditions. A list of travel tips reminds folks that "seat belts feel better than the windshield." Map ordering information is available. Divisions and Bureaus are listed, along with the names of personnel. Some construction specifications are posted, but not for bid purposes. Financial information is not posted. This is a very useful and well planned site. In addition to information on road conditions and public notices, there are links for the airports. Contract information and winning bids are posted in PDF format. Transportation statistics are also posted. There is a search engine and employee directory. This site does provide information on construction projects and road closures. Unfortunately, it employs an annoying graphics system which can obscure the other links. There are links to various departments and personnel. Real departmental information can be difficult to locate, but are there. This site allows the viewer to search for and download both city and county maps. You can download a map of the President's hometown of Hope. Contract and bid information is available. The site also includes 42 pictures of a new highway and tunnel project. One may find helpful information or road projects, road conditions, and traffic data. Includes a low graphics edition, a search engine, and a Frequently Asked Questions page. The page offers two choices: Business and Public Interest. The Business section includes CDOT regulations, technical specifications, and departmental information. The Public Interest section includes information on road conditions, construction projects, safety, recreation and tourism. The highlight of this site may be the real time traffic cams. A number of locations allow commuters to plan ahead. The site also links to legal notices and construction bid notices. And, of course, it provides traveler, construction, and weather information. This site has a special section devoted to Delaware's beaches. It features travel reports, general information, weather updates, and live traffic cameras (some for high bandwidth). The site also has traffic cams for other areas in the state. The site's graphics are modeled on regular highway travel signs. A special section focuses on "Doing Business with DelDOT." The site promises a "Governor's Hurricane Evacuation Study," complete with a spinning hurricane graphic, but the links are only to meetings planning for the study. The site has links to traveler's information, "Doing Business with FDOT," and maps. Visitors will encounter the smiling visage of the Commissioner, and a friendly greeting on behalf of the department. The highlight of the site may be the Navigator system, featuring a clickable map of the Atlanta metro area which uses radar and traffic cams to report traffic conditions. Unfortunately, the accounting department is still building their site, so financial information is only promised. A highway "map" is a map to the site. In addition to general information, the site has public hearing and meeting notices, and annual reports for the last few years. Clickable maps allow the viewers to choose an island for information, statistics, and photos of airports, harbors, and highways. The harbor pages include daily ship schedules. The visitor is greeted by "tire treads" wallpaper and an animation graphic. The site is clearly laid out, but it is possible to arranged the site by a table of contents for easier searching. In addition to general travel information, this site has a wealth of data about the department, from the minutes of a recent Board meeting, to lots of statistics, available in HTML, Excel, and PDF formats. Contractor information is also available. Helpful pages include "Getting Around in Illinois" and "Winter Road Conditions," a color coded highway map showing snow and ice conditions. The "Doing Business" link has information for trucking companies and contractors wishing to bid on projects. This sites provide a great deal of information on the department. A state highway map is divided by counties for quick downloading. City maps are posted in PDF. Public hearing notices are posted, as is information for contractors. For the public, there is a list of frequentl;y asked questions, trivia, and road reports. Center stage is taken by travel concerns. The site has links to a Road Condition Report, Winter Driving Information, Road Work Report, and Road/Traveler Information. However, there are also links to public meeting notices and information for those doing business with the department. The site contains maps and other publications in compressed format, as well as road reports and a frequently asked questions site. Bureaus and district offices are listed. The Doing Business section has information for contractors, vendors, and commercial vehicle operators. This site is unbelievably persistent in its attempt to place a cookie on your computer. It has stories about the department, maps, and traffic cams for Louisville. The site does provide information on road closures and weather, but it appears designed more for businesses than the public. There is plenty of technical information, as well as information on construction letting. Maps require plug-ins. This is available in a graphics heavy or text only version. A lot of information is presented, both about the department itself and planned projects. A special section is designed just for contractors. The Department heads an alphabet soup of transportation sub-administrations, which link from this page. The site seems to be designed for businesses, rather than the traveling public. This site was designed for the public. Links include bicycle and pedestrian information, as well as public hearings and competitive contracts. There is even a "Facts & Stats" link. A Smart Traveler link gives current traffic conditions. This is a very informative site. It has a search engine, and lots of links for the public, including Frequently Asked Questions, Facts & Figures, and Maps & Publications. There is also plenty of information for contractors. The only downside may be the slow downloading time because of the graphics. Here is quick information for both travelers and businesses. Planes, trains, and automobiles are covered. There is a clickable district map of the state, and an interesting Hot Topics section. It has links to related state agencies. Information is separated into major categories, including "On the Road," "Doing Business," "In the Works," and "MDOT Facts." The site is well planned and informative. This site has links to "Winter Road Conditions" and "Business with MoDOT." It also has a 1999 Annual Report in PDF, Legislative Reports, and a search engine. Of course, there is a photo of the famous arch. Here may be found lots of interesting information. Links include the usual "Traveler Information" and "Current Bid Information," as well as "Fast Facts" and "Newsline." There is a map of the rail system, a state map, and global positioning system files. Public notices and technical information is also posted. This site has links for Public Meetings, Weather & Road Conditions, and Contractor Lettings. Graphics are minimal, which allows quick downloading and viewing. This site features a Road Weather Information System. A clickable map presents current weather conditions at a large number of strategic points. The site also has links for "Motorist Information," "Trucker Information," "About NDOT," and "Contractor and Business Information." The home page has a vision statement and a mission statement. Links include a ten year plan, news releases, laws, and rules. This site has plenty of information. Topics include Train Schedules, Biking & Walking, Management, Maps, Ridesharing, and Public Meetings & Hearings. The site seems to be designed for everyday use by the citizens of the state. In addition to common links like "Road Conditions" and "Road Advisory," there are Links for "Photographs," "Quality Management," and "Research." This is an interesting site to visit. Quick links are positioned below a beautiful New York vista. Interesting links include "Materials, Soils, & Transportation Research," "Mappings & GIS," and "Ozone Alerts." There are also links for road work and businesses. This site has so many great features, it is hard to pick the best. The Real Time Traffic Images link does give fast downloading photos of different locations. There is also a state travel map and updates on road conditions because of hurricanes. There is also financial information and statistics. The only problem may be the slow downloading speeds because of the graphics. A text version is available, but only for the home page. As with many northern states, winter road conditions are given special attention. There is a search engine and site map. There is a lot of information for travelers and contractors. There is also information about the department itself. Although it does have other information, weather and road closures are the dominant focus of this site. One may search by city, county, or district for road condition updates. There are also many links to doppler radar pictures and other weather sites. This site is available in graphics or text versions. It has links for air, rail, waterways, and roads. Information is for both travelers and business. This site could easily be mistaken for an online newspaper. It even wants to send cookies as you move around in it. However, it is obvious that a lot of time and effort went into it. The highlight may be the state-wide system of traffic cams. Facts are also bountiful. The Annual Report and Financial Statement are available in PDF format. There is also a summary of 1999 legislation affecting ODOT. This site has the usual links, like "Doing Business with Us" and "Roads & Highways." However, at the bottom of the home page is a copyright notice, along with the sentence "Any reproduction or reuse without the express written consent of the Department is strictly prohibited." This site has links for travelers, consultants, and contractors. A highlight is "New Routes to Downtown Providence," with wonderful maps available in both JPEG and PDF formats. This site has links including "Roads and Bridges," "Doing Business with SCDOT," and "SCDOT NEWS." Maps and other traveler information is posted, as is technical and bid information. This site has information for the public, including links to "Press Releases," "Legislative Issues, Rules & Laws," and "Maps." It has an intranet reserved for state employees, and a "Weekly Maintainence Reports" link just for SD DOT employees. This homepage has links to a "Driving in Tennessee" site, as well as a site for contractors. "Frequently Asked Questions" and strategic plans are also posted. This site is as big as the state. It seems designed for both businesses and average citizens. Interesting links include "Legislation," "Aviation," "Consumer Protection," and "Don't Mess With Texas." The uncluttered home page includes links for Divisions, Organizational Chart, and CommuterLink. These lead to specialized pages which are full of more links and information. A clickable map at CommuterLink allows one to choose among many different traffic cams. The site also allows one to sign up for e-mailed traffic alerts, which are sent in the morning and in the afternoon. This home page has nice photos of covered bridges, but it takes time to download. Links include "Rail, Aviation & Public Transportation," "Doing Business With Vermont," and "Technical Support." A Vermont Tourism Map can be ordered online. This site seems to be designed for the traveler. Features include traffic congestion maps and traffic cameras. Regular maps can also be downloaded. This site has a wealth of information on many different topics. The highlight may be the traffic maps and the traffic cameras. They can provide valuable information for those traveling through mountain passes. Information is clearly set out, with links called "Consultant's Center," "Contractor's Center," "Driver's Center," and "Visitor Center." There are many other links as well. This site has lots of information for everyone, in an easy to find format. One interesting link is to information on "Wisconsin's Rustic Roads: a positive step backwards." This site can take forever to download. Road reports are available as text or imagemap. Some interesting links are to State Scenic Byways and Photo Gallery. The site displays a copyright notice.
