Alabama
- Alabama Historical Commission

- Florida Department of State - Division of Historical Resources
The site offers a wealth of information on Florida's cultural heritage, including:
- Bureau of Historic Preservation
"The Bureau of Historic Preservation conducts historic preservation programs aimed at identifying, evaluating, preserving and interpreting the historic resources of the state. The Bureau also receives federal funding from the Historic Preservation Fund through the National Park Service and has certain responsibilities under federal law." The site provides information and links to grants, publications, and programs.
- Bureau of Archaeological Research
"The state's archaeology program is the responsibility of the Bureau of Archaeological Research. The bureau's archaeologists carry out archaeological surveys and excavations throughout the state, mostly on state-owned lands. They maintain records on historical resources that have been recorded, and assist consultants and planners in protecting sites." The site provides links to infomation about archaeological sites and preserves, reports, and employment information.

"Opened in 1977, the Museum of Florida History collects, preserves, exhibits, and interprets evidence of past and present cultures in Florida, and promotes knowledge and appreciation of this heritage." The site provides information about the museum's collections, location, hours and services.

Louisiana
- Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation
"To achieve the preservation of Louisiana sites, structures and districts deemed significant in the broad historical development of the United States, Louisiana and sub-divisions thereof, through direct action and through influencing the actions of others." Provides links to Louisiana historic places, guidelines and eligibility requirments for historic properties, newsletters, and programs.

"The Louisiana Division of Archaeology has state and federal roles relating to recording, protecting, and distributing information about the state's archaeological sites." This excellent site contains educational resources, virtual books, contact information and guidelines for artifact curation and archaeological field investigations.

- Louisiana Office of State Parks
"Each of our State Historic Sites was selected for its historical, cultural or archaeological significance. Mississippi
- Mississippi Department of Archives and History
"The Mississippi Department of Archives and History was created in 1902 by the Mississippi State Legislature to preserve and disseminate knowledge about Mississippi history." It includes:
- Historic Preservation Division
"The Historic Preservation Division ... is charged with implementation of the National Register of Historic Places program in Mississippi. Division archaeologists are charged with survey of prehistoric sites in order to extend to them the protections of state and federal antiquities legislation or to recover information from sites that cannot be protected. Division architectural historians study and record buildings and sites that are significant in terms of architecture, history, and culture.
Programs of the Historic Preservation Division include: Mississippi Landmarks Program, Mississippi Archaeological Survey, Certified Local Governments Program."

Oversees three sites: Old Capitol Museum of Mississippi History, Manship House Museum, and Governor's Mansion.
North Carolina
- North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office
"The North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office assists private citizens, private institutions, local governments, and agencies of state and federal government in the identification, evaluation, protection, and enhancement of properties significant in North Carolina history and archaeology."
- North Carolina Office of State Archaeology
"North Carolina's Office of State Archaeology (OSA) coordinates and implements a statewide program of prehistoric, historic, and underwater archaeology. The OSA serves as the professional archaeology staff for the State Historic Preservation Office and the North Carolina Historical Commission."

South Carolina
- South Carolina Archives and History Center
Includes: "Preserving Historic Places" from the State Historic Preservation Office. The site contains information on the State Survey of Historic Places, National Register of Historic Places, grants and tax incentives, hotlines, and local and regional resources.
- South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology
"The South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA) was established in 1963 as a University of South Carolina research institute and a State cultural resource management agency. As the latter, it serves as the main State agency concerned with South Carolina's Prehistoric and Historic Archaeology, and its discovery, study, revelation, and official safekeeping at a curatorial facility."
