STATE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT

 

Employment with a State Government can provide interesting, secure, and monetarily rewarding work. The purpose of this Web site is to give the user easy access to available State Government jobs in all fifty States.

ALABAMA

This site is updated once a week, usually on Wednesday. A State job application must be downloaded to apply.

ALASKA

Click on "Job Posting Board" and then choose jobs by date, title, location or department.

ARIZONA

Click on "Job Opportunities" at the bottom of the page. Arizona has both weekly advertisements for jobs and also open and continuous jobs.

ARKANSAS

Click on "Search Openings" and search for the type of job you are interested in or the department you wish to work for.

CALIFORNIA

Click on "Jobs" and then on "Jobs Open to the Public".

COLORADO

Click on "Look for Job Announcements", and then, under "Employment Opportunities for:", select the type of job you are interested in.

CONNECTICUT

Click on the job number of the job you are interested in for more information. For jobs requiring exams before hiring, click on the exam number.

DELAWARE

Click on the agency you would like to work for. Jobs on this page are updated weekly.

FLORIDA

Click on "Statewide" and then select the agency you wish to work for. You may also select "Out of State/Country" for State jobs not located in Florida.

GEORGIA

Click on "Employment Opportunities" and then select the agency you are interested in.

HAWAII

Click on "State Civil Service Jobs" and then on "Job Opportunities". Then click on either of the two job selection types.

IDAHO

You will see a list of the most current jobs. Click on "Job Listing" at the bottom of the page to see all available jobs.

ILLINOIS

Illinois does not maintain an online listing of State job openings at this time. You can call their Career Services office for information.

INDIANA

Click on "Display the Entire Job Bank" to see all State jobs presently available.

IOWA

Click on "Open Jobs", then on "View other current job opportunities", and then on "View the Current Weekly State Job Listings".

KANSAS

Click on the "State Civil Service Jobs" button. It may work, or it may not! (Kansas was having trouble with their page when this Web guide was put together.)

KENTUCKY

Click on "Vacancy Notices" by title, by county, or by complete listing.

LOUISIANA

Click on "Special Announcements" for hot jobs or click on the type of job you are interested in.

MAINE

Click on "Career Opportunities" and then on "For Everyone". This page is updated once every two weeks.

MARYLAND

Jobs are listed alphabetically by title, and special appointment and contractual jobs are listed below.

MASSACHUSETTS

Click on the agency or department you would like to work for. Publications relating to State employment are also listed on this page.

MICHIGAN

Click on "Current Vacancies" under the dropdown window in Employment Information. You can also click on "State of Michigan Jobs".

MINNESOTA

Click on "Job Listing Search" to search for a particular type of job, or click on "All Current Listings" to see all jobs.

MISSISSIPPI

Click on the job you are interested in to get more information. This page is updated every Monday and Thursday.

MISSOURI

Click on the department or university you are interested in. This page also has links to Federal jobs in the State.

MONTANA

Click on the "State Job Listings" button.

NEBRASKA

Click on the category of job you are interested in. You can complete an online application for some of these jobs.

NEVADA

Click on "How to Apply for a State Job" and then on "Complete Job Listings and Announcements".

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Click on "State Opportunities Listing". This list is updated every 2 to 3 weeks.

NEW JERSEY

This page is updated daily. It can also be viewed by job title or by geographic region, in addition to the list given.

NEW MEXICO

Jobs are listed alphabetically by title, and details can be displayed by clicking on the end of each announcement box.

NEW YORK

High demand jobs are listed first on this page, followed by jobs that are continuously in demand.

NORTH CAROLINA

Click on "Career Opportunities" and then select State positions by title or by location, from the bar at the bottom of the page.

NORTH DAKOTA

Click on job title for more information. At the bottom of the page are links to jobs at State universities.

OHIO

Click on "General Jobs--Full Listing". You can then either download all of the jobs available or go to the job search page.

OKLAHOMA

Click on "new recruitment notices" or "current job announcements".

OREGON

Click on "Most Recent Job Openings", "Browse Jobs by Category" or "Search Job Titles and Text".

PENNSYVLANIA

Click on "Recruitment Spotlight" and then select the first letter of the job title you are looking for.

RHODE ISLAND

Jobs are listed in no particular order on this page so you will need to search through it to find what you want.

SOUTH CAROLINA

You can search for jobs by title, agency or location. State university jobs are listed at the bottom of the page.

SOUTH DAKOTA

Click on "Job Openings". This page is updated every Tuesday and Friday.

TENNESSEE

Click on "Frequent Vacancies" or "Job Search".

TEXAS

Check the jobs you are interested in and then click on "View Jobs" at the bottom to see more information.

UTAH

Click on "Employment" and then "State of Utah Job Listings".

VERMONT

Click on the job title you are interested in to get more information.

VIRGINIA

The jobs are listed alphabetically by title, and you can do a search on jobs by job description, agency, or location.

WASHINGTON

Click on "General Government Employment Opportunities", and then click on the category of job you are interested in.

WEST VIRGINIA

Jobs are listed by bureau and agency, and you can also click on "Search" at the bottom of the page to search by title, salary or county.

WISCONSIN

Click on "Cumulative Electronic Bulletin" and all the current jobs will be downloaded into a WORD document for you.

WYOMING

Jobs are listed by class code so you will need to search through the entire list.
