This site is targeted toward individuals aged 40 and over ("Senior Leaders"). There are numerous links which offer everything from "Exercise Injury Protection" and Stress Management" to "Stamina/Nutrition Connection," and more.

"Physical Activity and Health" http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/sgr/sgr.htm

This is a report of the Surgeon General on health, which contains six chapters beginning with a "Historical Background," and covering "The Effects of Physical Activity on Health," "Patterns and Trends in Physical Activity," to name a few.

This site is essentially a resource list of federal, state and local government agencies (and some private agencies) that have information related to health and fitness. Each agency’s name, address, phone number and purpose are listed in alphabetical order.

This site contains a myriad of information from "Health Topics A-Z" to "Traveler’s Health" to "Training and Employment at CDC." There are also press releases and current health news, as well as information about funding opportunities.

"Air War College: Gateway to Health and Fitness" http://www.au.af.mil/au/awcgate/awc-pers.htm

You will find a wealth of information at this site on health and fitness. There are links to the U.S. Army, help for quitting smoking, "ABC News Health and Living," and "Fox News Health Wires," in addition to many, many more.

This site covers "Obesity and Nutrition," "Exercise & Fitness Level," "Health & Different Cultures," and "Health and Life Expectancy."

A very interesting and helpful site with a multitude of information and links about health and fitness. Nearly every topic is covered including AIDS, cancer, diabetes and food safety. There are also links geared specifically toward children, teens, seniors and the Spanish-speaking population.

This site is the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute’s web site on cholesterol ("National Cholesterol and Education Program). The site has a link to NHLBI’s home page, and information on heart disease (its connection to high cholesterol levels and how to prevent it).

From this site you can order a book from the government printing office entitled, "Getting Fit Your Way, A Self-Paced Fitness Guide," for $4.50. The book details a fitness program that can be personalized for different individuals.

This site has links to "OWH Publications," "OWH Programs and Activities," Women’s Programs," and more. Each link provides valuable health information for women and guidelines for a healthy lifestyle.

This is a Consumer Information Center "Highlight" on fitness and exercise. There is a brief overview of guidelines for a healthy lifestyle and information on how to order the free booklet, "Fitness and Exercise."

The Directorate of Health Promotion and Wellness is a site geared toward health promotion in the Army, but the information provided can benefit civilians as well.

This site provides information on state-by-state campground directories, cooking tips, recipes, places to hike and lots more. This is an excellent all-around guide for serious walkers!

This site, sponsored by the Center of Disease Control, has numerous links to fitness web sites, from A to Z.

On this site you will find consumer education beginning with "Aging Parents" to tips on buying exercise equipment. There is extensive information on health and fitness, designed to benefit and protect the consumer.

"NCBW Internet Resource Center" http://www.bikefed.org

The National Center for Bicycling and Walking’s web site has information on bicycling and bicycling safety.

"Presidential Sports Award" http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/health/win-win/presaward.htm

A guide to the requirements of various activities to win the Presidential Sports Award. Activities range from aerobic dance to wrestling and everything in between. An official "log" can be downloaded from this site to keep track of hours (exercising).

The U.S. Dept. of Justice designed this site to provide information about the various Departments of Justice programs that promote healthy and safe communities.

Partnership for Healthy Weight Management" http://www.consumer.gov/weightloss/

"BMI (Body Mass Index) Chart" and "Setting Goals for Weight Loss," are just the beginning of helpful links to information on health and fitness provided by organizations such as the American Dietetic Association, Chicago, Ill., Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, Ga. [et. al.]

"The ABS’s of Safe and Healthy Child Care" http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/hip/abc.htm

This site is an "on-line handbook for child-care providers" with information on how diseases are spread, and even information on how to reduce injury and stress among the providers themselves.
