  DESCRIPTION: Publication of vital statistics containing
  extensive basic data and analysis on marriage, divorce,      
  natality, and mortality.  Provides a highly detailed         
  table of contents in place of an index.
              
   The series began as Birth Statistics for the                
   Registration Area of the U.S in 1915.  In 1922, the         
   title changed to Birth, Stillbirth, and Infant              
   Mortality Statistics.  The current title was                
   adopted in 1936. 
  
   The series consists of three volumes of statistics:         
   Volume 1-- Natality, which contains four sections:          
   Rates and Characteristics; Local Area Statistics;           
   Puerto-Rico, the Virgin Islands (U.S.), and Guam,           
   and the Technical Appendix; Volume 2-- Part A-              
   Mortality,which contains seven sections: General            
   Mortality; Infant Mortality; Fetal Mortality;               
   Perinatal Deaths; Accident Mortality; Life Tables,          
   and the Technical Appendix; Volume 2-- Part B--             
   Mortality, which contains two sections, Geographic          
   Detail for Mortality and Puerto Rico, the Virgin            
   Islands (U.S.), and Guam; Volume 3-- Marriage and           
   Divorce, which contains four sections: Marriages,           
   Divorces; Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands (U.S.) and        
   the Technical Appendix.

  doctors, forensic doctors, and students researching these
