Beatriz Pascual Wallace is a Seattle native. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Communications and received her MLIS from the University of South Carolina. While at CLIS (now SLIS) she was secretary of LISSA and earned the William M. Trafton award for student leadership. She later received the Wayne S. Yenawine Distinguished Student Award.
Beatriz worked as a youth librarian at Multnomah County Library in Oregon for almost five years where she helped establish a new branch in an underserved area, a dream job for a newly minted librarian. Marriage in 2005 brought her back to the Seattle area where she works as a children's librarian at Seattle Public Library.
Professional interests, involvement and achievements include: 1999 ALA Spectrum Initiative Scholar; member of ALA, APALA, ALSC, REFORMA, and YALSA; multicultural children's and YA literature; early literacy; and outreach to the Latino/Spanish-speaking community.
