The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at the University of South Carolina is a part of the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies and one of the nation's youngest and most distinguished schools of library and information science education.

SLIS continues to be ranked #2 nationally for the School Library Media specialty, according to U.S. News and World Report’s new 2009 rankings. The rankings include an overall program rank of 17th out of 62 accredited schools nationally.
