    The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS), University of South Carolina, presents the sixteenth annual calendar of scheduled continuing education (CE) events. We hope that you will participate in many of the programs listed in this Schedule of CE Events for Spring 2010.

    This year, as in the past, the CE Committee has worked to develop programs in cooperation with other CE providers throughout the stateand region. We want to continue to work with your organizations to bring the best continuing education opportunities to you and your colleagues. Please let us know what we can do.

    This webpage lists workshops that were scheduled by January 4, 2010. Check our flyers or our home page for additional events.

Please take special note of the following:

Make/Break Deadline:

    Make/Break Deadline is 2 weeks prior to the workshop date. If sufficient registration has not been received by that date, the workshop will be canceled.

    If the workshop has made by the make/break deadline, we will continue to accept registration until two working days before the event or until maximum registration is reached.

    In fairness to presenters, this policy will be strictly followed. Please register early.

Refund Policy:
    SLIS will refund registration fees received for programs only under the following conditions:
    1. SLIS is notified of cancellation five working days in advance of the program,
    2. Participant is ill and notifies SLIS by the day before the program, or
    3. SLIS cancels the program.
Parking:
    Metered parking is available in the Pendleton Street Garage on levels 1A, 1B, and 2A. There are 2 and 5 hour meters.

    On Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., you can purchase a meter permit card for the 2-hour or 5-hour meters for $4.00 per day. These are available in the Parking Office, which is located on level 1A of the garage, facing Pendleton Street. This office is not open on Saturdays. Plan to arrive before 9 a.m.to ensure a space in the garage.

    Please note that meters located on the surrounding streets are controlled by the City of Columbia.

SLIS Workshops "To Go"/Inservice:
    Many of the workshops listed in Panning for Gold can be brought to your audience in your location. These are perfect for a half day or full day in service program. Dates and times will be negotiated based on the presenter's availability.

    To schedule a program in your area, call the CE office at 803/777-5277 or 803/777-0513, referring to the Panning for Gold booklet for program title, presenter and course description. Other workshops can be offered tailored to your particular needs and schedule.

    Cost will be $300.00 plus expenses for a half day and $500.00 plus expenses for a full day.
     

Student Registration
    SLIS students may attend workshops for half of the regular registration fee unless there is a waiting list, then full fee is required. Check with the Continuing Education office for registration information.
